The Beginning of the End

Yesterday was my baby boy's first day of his last year in high school. We are yet agian at the beginning of another Senior year. He is already counting down his football games to the LAST one. I remember so well how crazy your senior year can be. It is filled with emotions at every activity. Counting your credits in hopes that you did not screw anything up for graduation. College apps. and testing. The list goes on.

I hope Chad has a good year, with his good friends, and holds on to his school spirit to the end. That includes going to the dances this year!!!! He's the only one of our kids that hasn't embraced them.

My New Addiction

The "Twilight Saga", all four books have been keeping me busy this month. Kalli talked me into reading the first one reluctantly." I'm sure , Vampires " I said. She promised I would like it. She was right! I started book one on vacation Aug. 1st. That night I read by the light of my "headlamp" around the campfire. I was hooked. It took me just 2 1/2 weeks to read all four books in the series. It was a good thing that the olympics were going on through some of that time because that gave Mike a diverison. He really was unhappy that Kalli got me started on reading.

We (Kalli and I) are looking forward to the movie due out 0n Nov. 21st.

Our Recent Trip to Blanding

One of Kevin's friend/ mission companion's father was killed in a plane crash in Blanding last week. Three men were actually killed in the crash. They were all from the same ward . Kevin was due home next week from his summer work in Seattle but he got in the car and drove home last Sunday. Kevin and Kalli have become very good friends with two of the Acton kids. They were devastated by the news they got early Friday morning. Kevin headed for Blanding on Tuesday and is still there with the Acton Family. Mike, Kalli and I left after work on Tuesday . It was an amazing experience to watch this town shut down so they could hold three seperate funerals in a row on Tues, Wed,Thurs. If the people were not standing in line for 3-4 hour for a viewing they were at a funeral or they were serving a meal to the family and friends of the person who's funeral was that day. They would clean up and reset the tables for the next day. Then go to the next viewing in the evening. There was so much campassionate service given in that town. The food alone would have been overwhelming. I watched the Lord's mercy truly sustain these people through these few days. It was humbling. We got to visit with an old mission companion of Mike's who lives there. It was really nice. We also finally met the Holliday family. I understand better why the kids from Blanding are always wanting to go home on the weekends from school. It is a wonderful place to live.

Catching Up!

Mike, Kalli, Jason & Chad hiked King's Peak over the 24th of July. A 3 day 30 mile adventure Kalli accidently push a boulder loose that went rolling down a hill and it almost took out all three men. It scared them all as you can imagine.
